MAPNA Attends Iran Wind Energy Conference

MAPNA Group attended the 5^th Wind Energy Conference of Iran hosted by the Wind Energy Association of Iran.
 
The two-day conference, which kicked off on Tuesday October 10, 2017, aims to focus on “real and practical issues focusing on the opportunities and challenges facing the industry in the next four years” and serves as the only dedicated platform of wind energy industry of Iran according to official website of the event.
 
MAPNA Group has been a pioneer in the go-green drive and development of renewable energy sources in Iran. Currently, construction of 750 MWs of wind farms, including eleven projects under BOO scheme in three windy provinces –Qazvin, Khorasan, and East Azerbaijan- has been commissioned to MAPNA Renewable Energy Generation Company.
 
The company has completed its first wind farm in Kahak region in Qazvin Province with a capacity of 55 MWs and equipped with cutting edge technology. Seventy percent of the equipment in the wind farm have been produced domestically by MAPNA, a figure which will reach 90% by early 2018.
 
Nashtifan, a small city in east of Iran that is known for its historical windmills, will be also soon host to MAPNA wind turbines ready to capture its Class I winds to produce 55 MWs of electricity. Aqkand, in East Azerbaijan Province, is also designated for construction of a 50 MW wind farm.
 
According to official statistics, only less than 3 percent of Iran’s energy is supplied by renewable energy. The Fifth National Development Plan of Iran requires the Ministry of Power to add 2000 MWs of renewable power generation capacity to the national grid. Of this, 1300 MWs of capacity shall be constructed in collaboration with the private sector.
